What is the solution to the problem?
I personally believe that media plays an important role in nourishing any society. You may not buy an advice form a relative but if Shahid Afridi says something in an advertisement you will believe him with your eyes closed. That is the power of media which changes perspective of people just by inspiration. If you portray good, people will feel good but if you portray bad, people will definitely feel insecure.
People believe what they see all the time in television and make assumptions on their observation. For the past few days this ranger incident is all hottest gossip in news, newspaper and even on the Internet. Millions of share on Facebook and trillion of times shown in the media but have anyone given a thought on what are we perceiving from the video. What is world thinking of us?
Sharing a news is a different thing but making an issue of the incident WITHOUT GIVING ANY SOLUTION is totally insane. There is no point of showing the video again and again. Video clearly shows that man was shot on leg but here are few things to note.
Firstly this is a universal rule that whenever an army, police officer points gun at you; you just need to lay down on the floor. In the video boy was trying to take the gun from the ranger. Well you can’t blame the boy either also but its a common sense to save yourself rather than showing resistance. Secondly ranger was told that boy is a thief without any proof how can you say that he is a thief? Obviously a common man will also kill the person if someone tells him that he is a thief than why blame the ranger.
I am not saying that ranger did the right thing what I am saying is that THE TRAINING WASN’T RIGHT. What ranger did is partially correct meaning intention was not to kill that is why he shot on the leg. Ranger was half trained. Boy was killed due to waste of blood not of the bullet itself. Media is as usual showing the wrong picture. Media is totally blaming the ranger for the act but had anyone thought its a mishap of training. If the ranger had a better training than he would not have done this at all.
We just need a topic of discussion and media just need a topic to engage the public. Media should be a source of inspiration rather than a tool to create panic. Root cause of the problem was lack of training and no one gave a thought of this. Its a humble request to all the media person and also the public to observe things by brain rather than taking it emotionally.
