Unfortunately people have misunderstood his motives. Here are some plausible reasons for his biting the ball: 1. Afridi wanted to see if the entire ball would fit in his mouth. 2. He thought it smelt funny and wanted to see if it tasted funny too. 3. The bitch slapping from the Aussies had a psychological effect on Afridi and he momentarily regressed into a 3 year old. 4. Afridi was just sharpening his teeth! 5. He thought it would be easier to just lick the ball to shine it!
