“Bigg Boss mei kya hua… Kon nikla… tum ne dekhta wo kesay larh rahi thi…” Sound familiar is it? Yes that’s the name of the game which gets on air every night on our local tv channel with an aim to destroy cultural and moral values of youth in Pakistan.
Every night when I go back home or every morning when I come to work there is the same discussion going on. Bigg Boss mei kya hua? Bigg Boss mei kon nikla? Bigg Boss to interesting ho gaya hai….
Bigg Boss is a reality show from India where one of the cheapest celebrities from India gets selected as contestants and stays in a single house for about three months, with no connection to the outside world. They are overseen by a mysterious person known as ‘Bigg Boss’, whose only presence in the house is through his voice.

Medigineers is the name of music band launched by him along with (medical doctor and engineer) friends and hence the name ‘medi-gineers back in 80s while studying in Karachi. These are also the early days that shaped the social media context for him ultimately resulting in what we have today as www.doodhpatti.com.
Along the way medigineers (Mehdi) graduated from NED, worked 18 years as a business professional in strategy formulation, operations planning, team building and quality assurance after doing MBA in Finance and Operations from Scranton-PA and held senior leadership positions in manufacturing, automotive, semi-conductor and consumer electronics industries working in North America and Pakistan. He is currently working as Global Quality Director for APC-Schnieder and is commuting between Boston and Karachi.
“Medigineers keeps me connected with my inner creative, communal and entrepreneurial instincts”, says Mehdi and thus culminates in launching projects such as ARRA International (during his early days in Karachi), Advanced Management Group and now Tohfay.com and Doodhpatti.com. Medigineers is a writer, singer and a poet (in humorous genre, a pupil of the great Late Dilwar Figaar himself) is often reciting mushairay in North America and Asia. Calls himself a teacher, a student of finance, economy and human behaviors.

A lot has been said and read and written in last two days… and here are my two “dropped catches”…Jazba
I have been writing on this blog the variance of Talent from skills and in my blog Mother of All Battles when I wrote that Pakistan must restrict India under 260 and then use skills and sense to stabilize and create a game… they did all that but.. What happened in Mohali on March 30th has pushed me to define what sets “skills and discipline” and in turn greatness apart from mere talent and Jazba..

What many wished but did not think would come alive for Pakistan was an as unlikely outcome as having New Zealand in the semi-finals but both have come true. I have to admit I wasn’t a bit sure of green shirts making it to the last four from the beginning of the tournament as I did not foresee Pakistan passing the round of eight, and I made no secret of this in my blog Why Pakistan will not be winning this world cup focusing my point lesser for lack of talent and jazba as we have those two plenty but more so for lack of discipline, skills (read developed talent), strategy and embedded greatness.
Comments on the blog and of almost all other pundits and keen followers had predicted India, Sri Lanka and South Africa to make the last four. Fourth team remained the personal favorites of which nation or school of cricket thoughts you belong to; From ‘Aussies can spoil a party any day’ to ‘Pakistan has the Boom-Boom Jazba’ to ‘England’s time has come to be elevated’ made the quart.

You are reading these lines when the first (or if you are yet to become a daily reader of DP Blogs) and second semi-finals are already over. With Pakistan winning the first QF so easily, I must say what I wrote two days ago in part one is only continuing to read as the script… a world Cup or a predictable Arnold Schwarzenegger movie….
As I review the 3rd and the 4th QFs, I am realizing that there is much more adventure to follow here and it’s not only the epic India-Aussie battle that will test the emotions but the England-Sri Lanka game could very well prove to be a nerve wrecker and by the time we finish the quarter finals and semi-finals we might as well seek release of Terminator-4 the movie than the Final of ICC World Cup.
