As the race for fight house closes in to the finish line… both candidates are in the middle of a furious battle that is testing their characters and defining their lives. The message of change in this election that has resonated from California to New York and from Michigan to Florida and beyond that to far off countries across oceans has seen the reemergence of what leadership and election of a president in any nations should be about- one word “Leadership.”

On countless appearances of Obama on hundreds of cable news programs, we have seen him making the case for change and hope in most eloquent and ‘hopeful’ manner not seen in last half of a century or before. In conversations taking place over office water coolers, coffee shops and restaurants or at the informal gatherings such as friends get-togethers during weekends across the country, people are asking the same question over and over again…. How far to believe the promises of hope and message of change..?

I want to say here that while it is indeed a tall order for many to comprehend the idea that ‘one man can make the difference’, a look into the near past reveals that the history of our planet earth is filled with examples of leaders who delivered on hope and inspiration. It is the way of the creation. Every once in a while mankind comes across a fellow from within who has the philosophy, the vision, the skill and the judgment to give an accurate call for action and the acumen to execute on that action. This, my friends, is the definition of a leader. You may also call this a blue-print for leading corporations, countries and nations towards success.

History of religions (all major religions including Islam, Christianity et el.) are full of examples of leaders who inspired (of course to perfection by the prophets). But from caliph Omer, to Salahuddin to Sir Syed if you look at the Islamic history for example, or from Thomas Jefferson to Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King, if we talk about the history of United States, what we learn is that there will always be one unique individual who will deliver beyond his own calling, who will understand the need of time and would present the case for reforming the destiny of a nation as an exact science. To me, Senator Obama falls in the same league of great men and women.

I have watched many of his speeches and discussions and debates. The man is a genius, and what separates him and puts him ahead of someone such as ZA Bhutto (who had many of the leadership traits listed in this article) is his humility. I often say leaders are born. … and then their surroundings nurture them to take charge. Some realize their own true potential and the opportunity that waits them. They could see the need of time and could feel the pain of those who are around. It’s in them a little something extra that takes them on the journey to heal the nations.

I leave you with this, one of the final appearances of Senator Obama as he prepares to take up the challenge that awaits the country and the world.
