Good enough to chase 50-60?
Honestly…. I am sure none of you actually believed with any level of confidence at any point
through the last six days that this Pakistani “herd” is good for anything. I am sorry but I can’t use the word “Team” as it is reserved and defined by multiple dictionaries for a group of people working towards a common goal. A good team is said to be one where the whole of the team is greater than the sum of its parts. Need I say more? This is as close as any time the Aussies allow opponents to come close to beating them at their home grounds … those who dare, plan and have finesse… do it…
Yousuf’s captaincy not lacking anything because there wasn’t anything to begin with to lack. Yousuf needed to show some anger (from Imran Khan’s book of captaincy) and bully the boys to do the jobs they have been hired by the rest of the nation (they are all on central contracts and yes there paid from mine and your tax money) to do.
Himself, Yousuf should have stayed… but don’t mind.. I suggest ‘can we send him back to ICL and then conveniently ban him again!’ And please do not suggest bringing back Younus…’cause Faisal Iqbal made at least 34 runs in the game.
… Kamran Akmal is one sorry figure… I am sure Mohammad Yousuf (who is often regarded as not so good a fielder) could have kept better behind the wickets with bare hands.
And what baloney is the notion (written and said by everyone) about Akmal being an automatic choice for his batting.. as if he actually saved the match in the end making an unbeaten knock of 80 odd runs…. Oh sorry thanks for waking me up… Though we wish he had the potential to just do that may be just to partly compensate for three dropped catches of Hussey who… oh in fact made an unbeaten 134 just a little less than the target set for Pakistan to chase. This has to be the only time when a keeper dropped the same guy three times in a single innings and so Kamran Akmal would make the record books one way or the other…. I do not want to take all credit away from him… indeed there is one bright spot about him… His younger brother..;-)
Misbah-ul-Haq was old when he returned to cricket and he is only getting older… We can groom two teenagers (Amir, Umar Akmal any one…?) at the cost of dragging him along.
Imran Farhat; only thing I can say is that for the one century he made against New Zeeland (with seven chances in that innings), we will pay for it for few years.
Intikhab’s next assignment should be to dress him a green Pakistani Kurtaa and replace the old fellow we all love to watch… Intikhab could act as a good cheer leader…. Only thing he is good for..

On day three when we had Aussies 80 runs ahead and 8 wickets down. I said to a friend and to my father.. ’watch these Paki losers loose this one from here’. Today a friend of mine wrote me sms saying ‘this team needs a first innings lead of 300 to hope to win a test match, 200 simply wasn’t enough’. I asked him in reply sms if he is joking as I think these idiots would choke even with a 400 run lead. He responded. No I (hoping they would get the opponents out for 360 odd) think they are good enough to chase 50-60 runs. Well said Ustaad! I can’t add much to that.

Really interesting article well written and based on facts, not just that it’s witty it’s also close to reality.
I am heart broken, angry, sad and mad. I watched the match online till midnight in Toronto and was forced to go to bed when the Akmal brothers were playing. I dreamt of waking up in the morning to see that Pakistan had won from where I had left. What a fool I was. When I woke up, I had text message from brother in law which read:” This is how you loose a match. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory” It made me laugh and made me sick as well. The state of our cricket team just reflects the state our nation. We have become Mediocre as a nation so how can we expect our team to do any better?
There are sparks of individual brilliance here and there and sometimes we click as a team only to become complete losers the next day. Like the country, our cricket team first needs a Captain with a sense of purpose. A purpose to win every game – mentally and physically. Someone who inspires team members and makes them shake in their pants if they waiver from the single purpose of winning a game.
This was the worst possible Australian team that you can get. This was our best chance to defeat them in I dont know how many years. We just needed two batsmen to stay – any two would have been enough even till the end. But that was too much to ask. Reason, we as a nation have accepted to be Mediocre!
Get the right person the lead the same team and they will deliver. We are not short on talent at all.
Oh and by the way, check the accounts and homes of everyone in the team and related to them to see how much they made on betting against themselves…. I am just kidding as I am sad, angry, frustrated and mad!!!
Mehdi bhai, you’re spot on. It’s pathetic as usual……Pak needs a strong mental/technical/bullish leader and the admins should have a goal/vision…..alas! they would have learnt something from the neighbors if not from the OZs.
Mehdi:
Agree wholeheartedly.
I will add a couple of points.
Immediately fire Ijaz Butt
and Iqbal Qasim. No cricketing
country in this world will give them
asslyum, for their damage to Pakistan.
Sarfraz Ahmed should replace Kamran
Akmal. We definitely need a Coach, had we
had a decent coach, it would have been a
great help. Inti was never a coach and never
will be any good in that job.
Nepotism is rampant. What a pity.
Salam olikum Moon bahi i agree with you 100% pakistan team to ko tu thane la ja kar marna chae, mera mutlab hei ka (wo kahte hei latoo ka bhoot batoo sae nahi mante)…………….Smile.

True I lost hope when saw the 1st innings Pak bating they way last 6 lost their wkts totally unprofessional …… A classical example of Team Work on HOW TO LOSE A MATCH…..and how un-thankful these Kangaroos are they named the MAN of the Match ………Instead of KAMRAN AKMAL….the man who won the match for them.
Abi Ramzan:
