FIXED! The Game or a Nation

Cricket Janaza
The Scandal is out… the Heaven has fallen… as if the flood waters raging from Northern Himalayas to the Southern valleys of Sind weren’t enough to drown a Nation … our beloved “Idiots” have breached all of the remaining dams of trust… Saying is… to drown in shame all u need is “Chullo bhar Paani” (a small cup of water)… why await the greatest flood of last 100 years…
I ask the nation to demand Excellence… from ourselves … from our Heroes… from our nation builders… Let’s seek again the days where we cherish the true heroes only and not drug addicts like Asif and Shoaib Akhtar .. or habitual betters like Kamran Akmal …. Let’s recall the days of Hero of Sharjah the legendary Miandad… of Sydney, the Tiger Imran Khan, of Dehli… The magician Hasan Sardar.
As today all of you (read us) are asking the question… What..? Why..? I do no more but to remind us of “HOW” we got here… let us recap the way us, the Pakistani nation have raced ourselves to “Mediocrity” and now digging to become the exemplary milestones of “Below Average Attitudes”
Let’s recall… how many times have we faltered in not recognizing the signs of the disaster that is today..

Training on ball tampering
In year 2000 Waseem Akram and his cronies… Waqar Younis, Mushy and few others were allowed to survive with mere fines… Where Ata and Malik were banned for life, Akram was allowed to continue to play… for thinking that our cricket may crumble without him… Ladies and Gentleman… why did we forget no one is bigger than the game.. Akram back then is on record to state that …”Why the whole fiasco…. who doesn’t bet in Pakistan”….. Excuse me….. in one statement Mr. Akram reversed swung the allegation on himself and painted the whole nation as cheaters including me you and everyone else.. Why did not we ask Mr. Pakistan Wasim Akram back then that betting on your country’s national pride is like selling your motherland (read mother)… another country had this been…
Mr. Akram would have been banned for life from entering a cricket stadium… for indeed enough evidence were there including him sitting out the 1994 World Cup semi-final against India giving a stomach-flue reason, a game that Pakistan lost ultimately and then later loosing the biggest one sided games in the history of cricket World Cup finals to Australia in 1999 Lords.
And thanks to our shameless short memories and disgusting arrogance of people at the helm that those recommended as a result of that debacle 10 years ago to be kept at distance from Pakistan cricket such as Mushtaq, Waqar and Ijaz Ahmed and Wasim himself.. all landed some coaching assignments later in the future till today totally against the recommendations of Judicial commission set up to investigate.
Top on the list of idiot and arrogant so called cricketers is the Rawalpindi Express of the past that has been off-track for long now and is going in an unknown direction at full speed with no regard to any signals or guard whistles… Shoaib Akhtar has been in doping scandals (TWICE)… brawls…. Discipline breaches, partying late with girls in night clubs during matches.. hitting fellow cricketers and so on….

Its party time
Should he be in psyche ward rather be in the national camp…. God knows why he is still around.. may be just to haunt us and taunt us….
Mohd Asif… isn’t he the same guy charged… convicted and banned for life from entering UAE for drug related felony just one year ago… why is he allowed to wear national color… the only color he should be wearing is the Jail suits I must say..My God the list of Pakistani cricketers looks like the cast ensemble of “Con-Air” the movie

Kamran Akmal who has mastered the art of dropping catches.. and black mailing the board … One of the so many players we have with ZERO technique and … nothing else to offer… yet playing for 5 years now….Who can forget his blowing up in every major game .. with a mindless mind boggling shot…. Kamran alone has mastered all thoughtless reckless shots there could be (read would never be) in a cricket book.

Shahid Afridi…. The Ball eating… Ball Tempering king of the world.. .. The only Cricketer in the world who has survived without a brain and any batting technique for two decades…. Who should have been Doom Doom out of even club cricket in any reasonable cricketing nation… and what did we do.. MADE HIM CAPTAIN??? Shame on us… Welcome Nation… Welcome to Mediocrity.

Feeling hungry!!!
And then there is a list … Shoaib, “I am more interested in flirting with every other Indian born Girl” Malik…Younus, “Let me leave cricket for a year then come back at will” Khan…. And Yousuf…” I am yet to decide why I am playing Cricket”.

Crushhh!!!!
What kind of lousy ambassadors that we make idols of…. Bravo the mediocre nation…. Go for it.. that’s what you deserve.. no wonder you are FIXED…!

Great article. Mohammad Aamir ko abhi Jumma Jumma 8 Din hua hain Cricket mein woh bhi is Dor mein shamil ho gia hai.
I guess the real question that we need to ask ourselves is this…
What our cricket team is doing or what our politicians are doing or! what our kids in Sialkot did is that a reflection of “Nation of Pakistan?”
I find self criticism is one of the most common habit of Pakistanis who love to sit in Public forums and feel proud about highlighting ills of their nation and opening up the dirty laundry.
I find every Pakistani surpasses other in finding the worst possible example of how bad our nation really is for example the most shameful comments of a Pakistani news paper calling the entire nation as cockroaches?
We all are emotional in expressing our distastes on things we don’t like.
But this time the questions are real as much as the issues our nation is facing are real.
1- Is Pakistan really the most corrupt nation on earth as some people proudly claim?
2- Do Pakistan deserve to be “exterminated” either by the hands of God or by the hands of international justice as the news anchor states?
3- Regardless of unfolding events one after the other and regardless of stories in news is this really true reflection of entire nation of 180 million?
Pakistani think tank need to come out of pessimistic self critic mode (Mehdi might be asking look whose talking?) and figure out what exactly is going on with our country.
We need to stop pointing fingers and scream shame , shame and we need to find people that are working to disgrace Pakistan.
WHY IT IS IMPORTANT?
In my opinion the nation of Pakistan is systematically being pushed to genocide.
You must be laughing (Mehdni in particular) saying here we go another conspiracy theory…!
But reality is that Mehdi that in order to really exterminate (genocide) a nation one of the key requirement is dehumanizing them…
You find news about Pakistan in systematic pattern each day on world news media you will see a video or new clip about Pakistan that force world to say “Oh What a corrupt nation this is”
Or people saying “how barbaric animals they are”
From Nation harboring terrorist to most corrupt Prime Minister in the world to Army dictators and then people that have alleged terrorist among every ranks …
Pakistan has nothing but bad name unfortunate consequence of this came out as an extreme cold response to flood relief efforts despite United Nation repeated calls stating that “THIS IS MUCH BIGGER THEN TSUNAMI and 2 EARTHQUAKE Combined”
World did not move to help Pakistan (relatively to what they did on Tsunami)
BOTTOM LINE
There is some thing really ugly going on with Pakistan and the great minds of the country need to sit together and figure out how to save this nation..
If not then world will not feel any sympathy to the people who call themselves as roaches and want to be exterminated.
read about definition of genocide here

Atif
I dont have anything to say,you have said it all, other than please join the group on facebook BOYCOTT PAKISTAN CRICKET…….they should all be thrown out………
Agreed with Atif bro…. I mean is it necessary to do useless criticism… just give a lifetime ban and that’s it… no need to discuss over this matter again and again… its degrading the image of Pakistan to the rest of the world.
We learn here that when we think we can get away with small evils, we are actually heading into a bigger plot. Not just our cricket team but at an individual level as Pakistanis we need to check ourselves – what we are contributing to the country we live in. Why is it that when we are in America we don’t throw the trash out on the streets, yet as soon as the plane lands, we are out of the airport and littering. We contribute to the ugliness we are in as a nation.
And on the whole, AWAY WITH THE PCB. Bad managers, bad leaders, bad decision makers –
May Allah guide us all to the way of life that
There is no hope for Pakistan, please dismantle this country and start over again. From your issues with your neighbours, your internal fighting, 75% of your politicians carrying fake degrees, your daily bombings, the elite not caring for the poor, brain drain…. and the fundamentalists taking over. Pakistan as a country has no image abroad, we are losing every battle and shortly will lose the war. Better to break the country up into seperate smaller countries based on its proviences and see what happens, can’t be any worse then present situation. And no more lectures of Pakistan’s glory, it is the people that are bad, where is the progress? Pakistan seems to be going deeper and deeper into the darkness.
I was never ashamed to be Pakistani, until now
And Mr. Asif Iqbal,
what have you done to help the situation in pakistan, if i may ask? you paint a horrible picture – but when you’re not part of the solution- you are part of the….3 GUESSES! YES – the problem –
Also reread your comment – where you are not even willing to take the least bit of responsibility by saying: your this and your that. let me remind you if you feel ashamed as of now because of Pakistan – YOU are part of the all YOUR stated above. Think about it over a cup of doodphatti! Cheers!
Well my dear Immy,
It seems too easy for ‘Pakistani’s’ living and working in Pakistan to blame everyone else, blame the govt, blame America, blame India, blame the expats… But why dont you people who love Pakistan so much, show your love by cleaning up your streets, cleaning up your politics, hold govt accountable for resources exported, follow a better model as in South Korea, Singapore, Chile to name a few, why must you insist on taking on India as your rival? I have news for you, you will never be India’s rival…. its like North Korea trying to rival China, its absurd and delusional! The countries I have mentioned previously have all made exponential strides in past 40 years…. i mean 4 decades man, for all that is good and holy, why cannot Pakistan do the same? why? why? I ask you why? We have more natural resources then those countries combined, we have more man power then those countries combined, we have more brain capacity and expat money combined…. tell me why? I do not see any progress being made by its own people? god said, help yourself so i can help you…. where my dear Immy are ‘Pakistani’s’ helping themselves?
India is rivals for merely sentimental reasons. As far as the why is concerned – i can tell you why first hand- I have studied at an American institute in the US – all the Indians that were there got their masters degree and went back to serve their nation with that knowledge. They were passionate patriots who remembered their goal. Tell me how many Pakistanis do you know and especially doctors who have gone abroad, gotten degrees and sit on chats to say why can’t pakistanis do this and do that.
These people made a deliberate choice (and a selfish one i must say) of leaving behind not just the nations but also their family’s future in the hands of the not-so-fortunate uneducated ones by waltzing out of the country to serve mother foreign land and be slaves to a country that will never be theirs. We have more of everything – but we lack sincerity and that begins not at the bottom where there are the uneducated who are actually plowing land to make the export possible so Pakistan can actually enjoy the trade that goes and have the International chains of McDonalad, Dunkin Donuts etc and actually compete with the rest of the world. The Pakistanis actually want to help NONE ELSE BUT themselves and hence we face selfish and corrupt leaders, immoral sports team, dirty streets (who wants to pick up somebody else’s trash right?). it is hi time we all move out of our comfort zones and think for the country in sincerity and help others and ourselves in the process.
Sorry mate, I call rubbish! Progress starts from down up, not top down…. the rich will never save the poor, but the poor can save the rich from themselves. All revolutions start from the down and lowly, as your farmer friend…. just read your history and you will note the biggest changes brought upon a society is organic revolution from the bottom. Why should anyone help Pakistan, if Pakistan doesn’t help itself? Its easy to sit in America and preach, but Pakistani’s shouldn’t take it as an insult but more of a challenge…. i think you said it best already, and have made my point for me… Pakistani’s want to help themselves only… unless they change their attitude to ‘WE’ and not ‘ME’… only then can we all progress.
But I do agree there needs to be a re-balancing… the brain drain must return… Pakistani’s must return to Pakistan and make it the next Singapore / South Korea….
Yeah Pakistan cricket is really having bad days. Lets hope for betterment.

It is sad that charges have proved right against them but time has come to see why it happened?
