You are a mobile phone addict if

January 21st, 2012 Yousuf Rafi No comments

Mobile addictWhat is an addiction? It is an action that you just cannot stop doing. What starts as something you enjoy, turns to an obsession or addiction when you have to have that thing all the time. Now a day’s common addiction is our mobile phones.

Of course we can and we are! Who of us doesn’t have a mobile phone? And with all that it can do, it makes sense that we are addicted to it. Whatever we need is in that phone and how many times have we heard someone say, “my life is in that phone”. It is so many things to so many people. Saved text messages can serve as a journal; contacts made are all stored in the phone, email addresses, songs, photos and more. After all, what is the first thing we reach for when we have even one spare second? We check our phone. Even though there are alerts for almost anything on your phone, you still check it to see if a text, phone call or email slipped by.

Dream of Arfa Karim

Dream of Arfa Karim

Pakistani young student and asset Arfa Karim from Faisalabad, Pakistan passed away on 14 January 2012’s night during her medication in intensive care unit due to some brain disease. Everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. Arfa Karim was surely an asset to Pakistan and proved to be a patriotic Pakistani.

The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact as Arfa Karim had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. Arfa Karim you are and will always be in our hearts.

10 Things I Hate About Bollywood

January 12th, 2012 Yousuf Rafi No comments

10) Bollywood Dances

Last but not least are the pelvic thrusts and chest bumping dances that are in no way sensual. Each main and supporting character of the film must have a minimum of 60-70 back-up dancers irrespective of their gender. Characters must for reasons unknown have their clothes changed during songs.

Bollywood

9 ) Desperation of Pakistani Actors/Musicians to Work in Bollywood

Almost all our actors & musicians die to work in Bollywood movies. A well known underground band which used to mainly perform rock has now started performing commercial songs just so they can sell to bollywood movies. Why change who you are just to fit into Bollywood? Iman Ali who on one hand claims the Pakistan fashion industry is too modern for her, has also announced that she wants to work for Bollywood movies. Despite the criticism that Bol and Khuda Ke Liye received I feel they were a good effort, so why not focus your energies in our own industry and try to improve our own standards.

8 ) Senseless lyrics

This is the end, my only friend, the end, Hurts to set you free, But you’ll never follow me,  The end of laughter and soft lies , The end of nights we tried to die”

Such were the lyrics of Jim Morrison.  Gone are the days of Jim Morrison and Pink Floyd’s deep meaningful lyrics. Instead we listen to rubbish like:

“mein toh bhail puri kha raha tha, teri nani mari to mein kia karoon”

Our minds have become like empty boxes where we prefer listening to rubbish from Bollywood rather than appreciating deep poetry and lyrics

7 ) Bollywood invasion over cable TV

There is nothing more frustrating than switching the channel only to discover Bollywood movies and songs on almost all channels. Quality channels like America Plus and Channel V International have been completely wiped out. Just recently my cable guy replaced a quality news channel with a Bollywood one.

reach-dreams10) Give back: Charity doesn’t always have to be money

Help someone with what you know best. Give good advice when asked. Be there for someone in need. Sometimes all it takes is a sympathetic ear!

9) Forgive everyone! Live freely

Studies show that people who forgive are happier and healthier than those who hold resentments.

8 ) Don’t sweat the small stuff: And its all small stuff.

Don’t sweat on small stuff Ask yourself “Would it matter a year from now?”

7) 1 hour for yourself

Spent some time alone… In this time Pray – Meditate – Read – Exercise – Play

Gadi Ko Chalana Babu Zara Halke Halke

January 3rd, 2012 Yousuf Rafi No comments

Gadi Chalana is a complex physical and mental operation. Not only does it require coordination, it also requires rapid assessment skills and good judgment. Companies have spent decades making cars easier and safer to drive, installing everything from rearview mirrors to automatic transmissions. Despite that, some drivers insist on creating distractions for them behind the wheel, most of which have nothing to do with driving, safe or otherwise.
