Review: Kachee Goliyan Comics on the right track

March 11th, 2012 Kinza Tahir No comments

KGWhen I first heard the words ‘Kachee Goliyan’, I knew it would be something out of the box, something big and I was right. Ramish and Nofal, the best friends, the mates, the coolest people ever had made the Kachee Goliyan Comics in Pakistan. First the craze was only on Facebook but this year they have launched their comic BOOKS, to be read online at kacheegoliyan.com as well as the actual copy which is available for free.

What I did was I read the third issue first which is the March issue titled ‘Of Superheroes and Rockstars’.  It starts with the main character Sufi and how he transforms. Actually he is a hero but he isn’t satisfied with himself and decides to quit his secret life. The last page leaves the readers in apprehension as it ends in continuation. I must say I was very impressed by the Cover Art. The drawings as always were striking.

I’m glad that the story of the March issue kept me in surprise wondering what will be the end.

Women Empowerment

Women? How can you ever express what they are and feel? Women are like delicate flowers where each one is beautiful in their own kind of way.  A woman has key roles in her life which comprises of being a daughter, a wife, a mother and more. Most women don’t say it but a lot of pressure is on them mentally and physically especially since they have so many responsibilities in their daily lives.

All over the world International Women’s Day is being celebrated today at March 8, 2012, empowering women all over, praising them and letting them know how much they mean to everyone.

There are many women who have been in this world who are true examples of independence such as Hazrat Fatima Al Zahra, Fatima Ali Jinnah, Mother Teresa, who were sincere, honest and kind.

Tu Desi Thumka La

Osama Com Laude

Osama Com Laude

When you pop your hip to the left and back while continuously doing that with the beats of the song, you my friend are doing the ‘Desi Thumka’. It’s very popular among all the Desis that is Pakistanis, Indians and others. The trend of dancing has been there since before the 18th century and it still continues. People dance especially on Pakistani weddings to upbeat and famous songs ranging from Punjabi style to pure English songs. Young girls and boys practice well before the wedding atleast 3 months before, but planning starts a year before.

Which songs will be ‘in’ during the wedding, the clothes, everything is planned.

Although there are other styles of dancing other then Punjabi style such as crumping, breakdancing, hip hop, I personally like Punjabi with all the thumkas with the ‘latkas’ and ‘jhatkas’.

A song ‘Desi Thumka’ has also emerged which is sung by Nouman Khalid feat. Osama Com Laude. Although both of the singers come in the category of ‘pretty’ boys and most girls will call them ‘cute’, well I’m one of those girls. Anyway when you listen to the song you expect the video to be full breaking the stage kind but the actual video is very classy and subtle. I personally thought the video was restrained. Overall the song is very addictive as well as very popular nowadays having more than 6 million views on YouTube.

Pieces Of Time part 3

office“Hi Tanisha! How have you been?”, he said in his husky voice.

“I have been good”, she managed to utter out.

“Can we talk?”

“I have office right now”, she said with a slight frown.

“Being your boss’s son, I already asked her and she said you can have your day off.”, he said shrugging his shoulders.

She nodded her head as they started walking. A hundred thoughts were coming in her head, they were not letting her settle. He had surprised her by suddenly appearing in front of her. Even Fariha hadn’t even mentioned in their conversations that her son was returning back from the US.

“I feel like I owe you an explanation.” He said sounding a little apologetic.

“For what?”, she pretended to be strong although she could feel her heart beat in her neck.

“I know I shouldn’t have left like that without informing.”, he said, carefully choosing his words.

“Yes you left but the good thing is you’re back, I don’t need any explanations. You did what you thought was best”, she said staring directly in his eyes.

“T, you have no idea what that means. I’m just glad. So are we going to Leesay Café now or what?” He said, reminding her their usual hangout place.

Pieces Of Time part 2

viewHer night had been dreamless. She woke up, stretching out her arms, not even bothering opening her eyes. She sat in her bed for a while reviewing her sleep. Tanisha Azeem usually had dangerous nightmares which made her wake up with a jolt and pour out tears of fear.

This night was odd, she thought.

Her roommate must have walked her to the bed which she vaguely remembered.

It was the first day of the week. She checked her watch, she was up early. Tanisha had a job as assistant to a major media personality. Her job was very exciting but she didn’t let it be. She just determined herself on doing everything according to her boss, Fariha Shah. Fariha had a very engaging personality. She was a family friend and had been kind to Tanisha.

Pieces Of Time part 1

rainIt was raining, it had been constantly pouring since the last three days. She had been stuck in her apartment since then as the mere thought of heavy rain used to infuriate her. She stared out of the window, the gloomy weather did not match her style at all. She was the kind of woman who loved breathing in the sun, when the rays touched her soft skin, she would enjoy the glimmer, mesmerize herself in them. The downpour had completely ruined her mood. She walked around the apartment, thinking of cleaning up the place but that would be just out of her personality. She tossed that thought away.

She looked in the mirror in her hallway and saw a woman of no more than twenty-one and wondered about her journey since she was just a seventeen year old.

When she was a girl, all her hassles, dramas and issues were taken care of her by her parents but after she turned seventeen, she knew she had a life to build, a career to set. She moved over to the couch with a bottle of water in her hand and started remembering what it was really like to be the star and then coming down to bits, and then just be an ordinary human being.

Valentine’s Day: The Anticipation

February 13th, 2012 Kinza Tahir No comments

valentines_day“Did you get something on Valentine’s Day? Did you receive chocolates, flowers, a heart shaped chocolate red icing cake with a special love message?” Yeah, this is what people who receive gifts ask their friends in an attempt to make them jealous. People who don’t receive (like me) just want to stoop to the ground and bury themselves with embarrassment.

Most people don’t follow Valentines, but as soon as they receive gifts they scream with happiness, forget that they never believed in it in the first place but are just happy as clams.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated for just the mere reason to remind your special someone, or your friends (ahem) that they are truly loved, cherished and beyond doubt, are their life.

Red is the color on Valentines. You can mix it up with white as well as pink but red is the most important because it’s the color of love. Red roses look so pretty with red chocolates as well as matching red and white teddies. People go out on candle light dinners, have walks on the beach, enjoy the moonlight and just have fun!

The Do’s and Don’ts Of Social Media

February 6th, 2012 Kinza Tahir 2 comments

facebook twitterI have been seeing and using social media since I can remember.

Through social media people interact with each other, talking about various things, giving their opinions, criticisms, complaints and mainly just taking out contentment or frustrations whatsoever.

I have concluded some Do’s and Don’ts of the social media. Let me know if you relate to them.

The Do’s

- Using it for businesses. While some people use it for business purposes and marketing their product, they also use it to promote themselves like actors, celebrities. A nice way to get more famous as well as interacting with your fans and followers.

- Helping others to achieve their goals by inspiring and motivating articles via blogs, newspapers and magazines. Informing and encouraging people to know what they want and how they will achieve it.
